  • The Literary Associate serves as the administrative and artistic lead of MoB Theatre's literary team. This role oversees, supports, and helps coordinate dramaturgical research, script development, and literary programming related to Scotopia, commissioned works, documentary theatre projects, and other company initiatives.

Responsibilities may include attending meetings, table reads, workshops, and rehearsals; conducting research; assisting with script development; creating and refining written materials; and helping ensure artistic projects are grounded in accurate and compelling storytelling. Along with artistic insights, the Literary Associate should also excel in administrative and organizational responsibilities. Working with the Artistic Director and Company manager, this individual will help lead the literary team by managing schedules, coordinating projects, and recruiting, supervising, and delegating tasks to volunteer and project-based dramaturgs, readers, and writers.

This role is particularly well suited for recent graduates, graduate students, emerging theatre professionals, or individuals considering future study in dramaturgy, playwriting, arts administration, directing, or related fields. Candidates should be curious, organized, strong communicators, and excited by the opportunity to help shape new works from early concept through public presentation.

While this is not a full-time position, Literary Associates receive a modest monthly stipend, currently anticipated to be approximately $200-$300 per month, depending on experience, responsibilities, available funding, and level of involvement. Additional compensation may be available during major project periods, such as Scotopia, when workload and responsibilities increase.

The expected commitment is approximately 6-12 hours per week, with additional hours possible during festival and project "crunch" periods. While we prioritize local, Wilmington, NC based applicants, we are also considering remote candidates.
